AHEAD OF BOOKING

What is a holistic massage treatment, and how does it differ from other massage practices?

A holistic massage is an individual massage treatment that is specifically tailored to each client. A holistic approach treats each person as a whole, addressing emotional and physical well-being. Techniques include Swedish, relaxation, acupressure, deep tissue and energetic massage.

A true holistic massage differs from other massage practices because it offers a unique treatment, tailored to your needs at that specific time. There is no fixed routine, and techniques focus on more than the immediately obvious aches and pains.

How can a holistic massage treatment benefit me?

A holistic massage treatment will support your well-being as an individual and address a wide range of needs.  It is a treatment to be enjoyed, encouraging deep relaxation and balance within the nervous system.

Intended Benefits

· Release of physical tension and tightness

· Relief from pain and stiffness

· Improve energetic balance, sleep quality, and fatigue

· Regulate emotion, stress and anxiety

· Encourage good circulation to aid digestion, repair and overall health

· Space for deep relaxation; to rest and reset

· Strengthen the mind/body connection to improve mental and physical health

With a comprehensive consultation, I can provide you with a treatment tailored to your individual needs on the day.

What techniques and pressure are used in the treatment?

I combine a range of techniques, including Swedish, acupressure, deep tissue, relaxation and energetic massage to address pain, tension, stress, fatigue and imbalance.

I work intuitively with massage to locate and release tension, encourage movement within connective tissue, and create greater mental and physical space for relaxation. From a relaxed, connected space, our system is set to process, restore and rebalance.

Preferred pressure is discussed during your consultation, and feedback is welcome throughout your treatment if you would like the pressure to change.

A note on deep pressure - From start to finish my massage treatments are set up to encourage relaxation and bring the nervous system into its rest and repair state (parasympathetic state); deep pressure techniques may be used very specifically to release tension without triggering stress, my treatments do not require high pain levels to be effective and I will always work with you to manage any tender areas.

What does a full-body massage consist of?

Most treatments will include the whole body: neck, back, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, buttocks, feet, stomach, face and scalp. Each person is a connected system, tension can form in patterns across the body; This is why full-body massage is an important tool to encourage balance and release tension, regardless of where it may be immediately noticeable.

Of course, the treatment is yours, so I can avoid any area which you are not comfortable receiving a massage; we will talk through this during our consultation/check-in. Towels and blankets are used to provide comfort and warmth; you will remain covered with these throughout your treatment.

Is there any reason why I should not have a massage treatment?

  • You are in your first trimester of pregnancy.
  • You have a bacterial infection, or a virus, including a cold.

What do I need to tell my massage practitioner ahead of my treatment?

When booking a treatment, please let me know of any:

  • Allergies
  • Current injury, illness, infections or pain
  • Access or sensory needs
  • Pregnancy

On the day of treatment, we will go through a consultation form, which can be filled out online ahead of time or on the day. The form will go over your medical history, current lifestyle, and emotional and physical health.

Why do I need to fill out a consultation form?

There are certain health conditions which may affect the massage treatment plan, it is therefore very important to have this information. I use information on allergies, access and sensory needs to ensure the massage environment meets your needs.

All questions asked during the consultation allow me to treat safely and effectively tailor your treatment to your physical and emotional needs.

What happens to my data, which is recorded on the consultation form?

The data is strictly confidential and only used for treatment purposes, Please see more details within my privacy policy.

I am apprehensive about the treatment. How can I manage this?

Please call me or email me, it’s understandable to feel like this, either for a specific reason or generally. Please share your concerns with me, and I will do my very best to reassure you or put solutions in place to ensure your experience is as relaxed as possible.

I have accessibility needs; can these be catered for?

Please contact me by phone, email or WhatsApp to discuss how I can work with you to address any specific accessibility, communication, and sensory needs relating to your massage treatment.

Can I park at the treatment location?

There is some on-street parking available on West Hill Road close to my house; parking on my drive can be provided, but I ask for at least 12 hours' notice ahead of your appointment to arrange this.

I am running late; can I still have my treatment?

Please call or message me ASAP if you know you are running late – 07867 310 089

Anything over 5 minutes will need to come off your treatment time.

Where should I go for my treatment, and what is the space like?

Treatments take place at my home on West Hill Road, St Leonards on Sea, the full address is provided in your booking confirmation email. The treatment room is located on the 3rd floor; it is a fully private, calm and clean space, and there is a designated client toilet next door to the treatment room.

How long will the appointment be?

The appointment duration will include time for the consultation, changing, the specified treatment time and any aftercare discussion that may be needed. the full appointment duration is displayed on the booking page for each type of treatment.

What does the consultation involve, and how does it enhance the treatment?

The consultation ensures you get the most out of your treatment, it is an important part of the massage process. It allows you to connect to how you are feeling at the time of the appointment, and perhaps notice more about what you need at that moment, and it allows me to hear what is going on for you.

What products are used?

I use pure essential oils to scent the room and provide a relaxing environment. any preference on scent or no scent to be used, can be requested at the time of booking.

I use organic grapeseed oil for my massage treatments.

What should I wear?

Ideally, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing in which you feel relaxed.

Massage works best when I have access to as much muscle as possible; clients are advised to remove all clothing apart from lower underwear for the treatment.

Towels may be tucked into underwear, and clothing may come into contact with some oil.

Will I have enough privacy?

You have full privacy and enough time to undress before your treatment and re-dress after, without feeling rushed.

All massage treatments are professional; clients remain covered with towels on areas not being treated to provide both privacy and warmth.

Should I talk during my massage treatment?

I encourage people to focus on themselves during the massage rather than feeling any need or pressure to speak. However, each person is different; if you need to chat a little to relax, it’s great to give yourself what you need.

I always encourage you to feedback to me during the treatment if something isn’t quite right, you need something adjusted, or want more or less of a particular technique. This way, we can work together to ensure you are happy and relaxed.

AFTER MY TREATMENT

How will I feel after my treatment, and will I be able to get back to my day straight away?

People react differently to massage, I would advise, if possible, to allow yourself some time to relax, immediately after your treatment, drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep. This will allow the benefits of massage to last longer, people can also feel very energised from a massage but rest will still be a benefit.

Some side effects can occur, such as tiredness, heightened emotions, a drop in temperature, dizziness and headaches, this is normal but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions following your treatment

How often should I have a massage treatment?

This is completely up to you, regular treatments allow for sustained benefits in mental and physical health as well as allowing us to work together on targeting patterns of tension, stress and pain.

What are benefits of having a series of treatments?

Regular sessions allow us to work together to achieve your long-term goals,. Treatments build from each other, I will monitor your responses and feedback to techniques and adjust them accordingly to provide you with a deeply bespoke service.  Ultimately, this will strengthen the value and enhance the benefits of your treatments as they grow to support more of your physical and emotional wellbeing needs.

I offer regular treatment packages which allow you to save money on booking a series of treatments:
